I own Absolutely Health Care: http://www.healthjobsusa.com, the largest niche job board for USA health care & medical jobs, as well as three additional candidate sourcing services called Nurse Options USA: http://www.nurseoptions.com, Med Options USA: http://www.medoptions.com, and Rehab Options USA: http://www.rehaboptions.com. I also own Medical Mingle: http://www.medicalmingle.com, a terrific professional social network for the health care and medical field. See my profile on Medical Mingle here: http://www.medicalmingle.com/kenjlev021858. My information is much more detailed on Medical Mingle, as I administrate the site, and therefore spend much more time there.

I hear you loud and clear. I've requested a new Project Manager from ONEsite, as the level of support I get from the one I have makes it impossible to do some of the things we've spoken about. At the same time, all of the technical expertise you bring has not made much of a positive impact on your site (as far as membership and participation is concerned), so the reality is that it probably doesn't mean much. Our site is simple, and people often still can't figure out how to do things. The more sophisticated you make it, the more confusing it is to many users. Members making comments seem to really like Medical Mingle, but getting them to become active participants is a whole different ball of wax. I've gotten to a point where I still encourage participation, but it is what it is, and I'm not going to frustrate myself over it nearly as much as I used to.

You're absolutely NOT alone. But, rest assured, though I'm still not earning a living, I'm still trying to find the answer to the equation of value vs. participation. There are many, many factors at play overall. None the least of which are time, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Just think of how many different places our potential members can be and how overwhelming it can be to manage one's "Compound Web Presence."

I think a common desire is to be connected. However, what combinations of online locations and how to manage it is still problematic as one networks within any Niche.

I'm still doing side projects to bring in scraps of cash, here and there. I just named it at the beginning of the year (see link above) to try to increase the flow of projects. But, every side project both contributes and takes away from the general progress of the medXcentral project.

Thanks for stopping by, Ken. Sorry I've not been to MedicalMingle lately. I will be there as find ways to balance my time. Right now.. I'm trying to convert the skills I've developed over the last three years into a manageable side business, without losing grasp of my vision for medXcentral. I think I need a support group. LOL
