Healthcare Social Network for those in Health Care and those who Need Them

No one considers it a pleasant experience to visit a dentist for treatments and cleanings. In fact, individuals even dread regular checkups, especially when the dentist they visit follows the principles of conventional dentistry. The problem is that even though technological advancement has proven to be a blessing in most industries and areas, it doesn’t seem to have done any good in regards to dentistry. Treatments and procedures have become even more agonizing and invasive over time and individuals have started avoiding dental visits. A new approach to dentistry has been developed because of the rising problems associated with the conventional one.

This is the holistic and natural approach to dentistry, which is followed by many dentists. As per Dr. Vinograd, dentist San Diego, "The principles and values of this approach are very diverse from the traditional one and it is gaining popularity quickly among the masses". The primary reason behind this occurrence is that it is a natural approach and there are no major side effects associated with it. There has been a rise in the number of these holistic or biological dentists everywhere. It is not very difficult to find a dentist who is willing to render effective dental treatment to people by using safe and non-toxic restorative material.

They do not use any conventional methods or procedures, unless they are beneficial and don’t have any other dangerous and hidden impacts on overall health. This treatment is highly effective, healthy and safe and also ensures that the problem is eliminated from its root and does not occur again. These dentists are not just concerned with addressing the current oral problem that’s plaguing individuals. Because they aim to prevent the problem from recurring, they also discover the root cause of the issue. According to the principles of holistic dentistry, there is a connection between different parts of the body.

This means that any problem in one part of the body can be linked to another. More importantly, bacteria often enter the body via the mouth because that’s where food is taken inside the body. Therefore, a good dentist emphasizes on how important it is to keep the mouth healthy and clean at all times. While conventional dentistry uses toxic ingredients and harsh chemicals for rendering oral care, the holistic practitioner will avoid doing so. In fact, their purpose is to remove all the dangerous elements of traditional dentistry.

This means that mercury amalgam fillings are neither used nor recommended by holistic dentists. Mercury is a toxic lead, which can create a myriad of health issues such as liver and kidney malfunction, heart problems etc. It is so dangerous that even its removal can have negative results because vapors are released when it is drilled out. Similarly, fluoride is also not used by holistic dentists for teeth cleaning and neither is fluoride toothpaste recommended. It may have advantages, but its disadvantages cannot be ignored either. Thus, a good dentist does not believe in making any compromises with oral health.

Any dental issue can successively lead to other health problems in the body and its the choice that the doc would make as a dentist to take care of oral health. As a dentist I believe in complete satisfaction of the patients who I treat upon and that itself gives me a true satisfaction towards my profession. A whole new holistic outlook needs to be developed for being a good dentist.

Great post ! I think the holistic means is the great approach for dental care that avoid using traditional dental materials and ingredients such as fluoride, mercury and other chemicals that has potential risk associated with health. Holistic dentists study various forms of alternative medicine such as hypnosis, acupuncture, foot reflexology and homeopathy to come up with the best available approach of dental health.

I agree, Amir. With so many healthcare and review websites in place, finding right dentist even in a specific locality is no longer difficult.
